WHAT IS KAMBO?

Kambo is a secretion from a green tree frog Phyllomedusa Bicolor, which lives in the upper regions of the Amazon Rainforest.  For centuries indigenous tribes have used this secretion to stay active, healthy, and ward of various diseases and infections.

There are many ways the indigenous tribes in the Amazon utilized Kambo.  Some of the more common uses were to cleanse, detox, and strengthen the body, increase energy, alertness, and stamina (especially before hunting) and to treat specific medical conditions like malaria, snake bites, fevers, infections, physical pain and infertility.

Beyond the Amazon Forest, Kambo has been scientifically researched for over 20 years.  Scientists believe that Kambo has the potential for treating a wide variety of hard to treat conditions such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Pain, Cancer, HIV, Lyme's Disease, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Depression, Vascular problems, Hepatitis, Diabetes, Rheumatism, Arthritis, Addictions and much, much more.

Kambo is one of the strongest natural anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, antimicrobial and anesthetic substances found in the world which is why it is one of the strongest, natural, and effective ways to strengthen the immune system. In addition, Kambo detoxes the intestines and liver which improves one's wellness.

Research has found that Kambo contains multiple antimicrobial and antiviral peptides proven effective against drug-resistant strains of bacteria, fungi, protozoa, parasites, and virus which is enabling new development of more efficient therapies for treating infectious diseases.

WHAT IS A KAMBO TREATMENT LIKE?

Kambo applications are given in a private 1-on-1 treatment or group setting. Each participant will have a private consultation with Sarah regarding their treatment and intention for receiving Kambo. In that time any questions pertaining to the treatment will be answered directly.  Together Sarah and the client will take time to develop a specific treatment plan based on each client's intention, goals, physical/emotional condition and previous experience with Kambo.

Kambo treatments are held in an intentional space conducive to client healing.  Great attention and care are taken to ensure the Kambo application is given in a space that is safe and comfortable for those receiving treatment.

Receiving Kambo can be unusual and an uncomfortable healing process for many. It is considered to be an “active” healing process which carries levels of temporary discomfort/difficulty but with potentially more rewarding outcomes in comparison to most ‘passive’ pharmaceutical treatments.  While the medicine is working its way through your body it is quite common to feel a temporary worsening of symptoms.  However, Kambo has no negative or lasting side effects. You may also feel Kambo’s innate intelligence as it goes directly to the areas of your body and mind that need attention.

HOW IS KAMBO APPLIED?

Kambo is applied by burning a small series of tiny burns (the size of the tip of an incense stick; about 3-5mm in diameter) onto the skin. The purpose of the small burns is to give the medicine direct access to the lymphatic system. Only the very top surface layer of skin is affected and no blood is drawn. The location of these burns will be based on the type of treatment with consideration for tattoos, aesthetics, and scars. The burning process is quick and great care is taken to make sure the pain is as minimal as possible. In the 15 minutes leading up to the application of Kambo you will drink ~1.5 liters of water to aid in the removal of toxins.

During this point in your treatment, the Kambo will be prepared by adding water to the dried frog secretion, which is then scraped and formed into ~5 mm balls (known as Kambo “dots”).  A test point will be placed on 1 of the burn points and your reaction to the medicine will be observed with careful attention given to your breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and skin reaction. If the test point is well tolerated the rest of your remaining points will be added to receive the complete treatment.

HOW LONG DOES A KAMBO TREATMENT LAST?

The peptides with Kambo have a powerful effect on the body and begin working seconds after it is applied to the skin.  Typically the first 10-30 minutes of a session will be the most intense. You will be guided to use your breath and posture to cope with the sensations and get the most out of your treatment. On average Kambo treatments last 20-40 minutes where most clients will vomit out toxins, mucous and waste cleared by the medicine. Bile often comes up with the purge as the liver and gallbladder flush waste out of your body. It is quite common to use the bathroom during and after the ceremony.

WHAT ARE OTHER RITUAL SUBSTANCES UTILIZED DURING THE KAMBO CEREMONY?

Hapé (pronounced ‘hapay’)

Hapé may be used during your Kambo treatment to aid the purging process and to clear blockages.  Hapé is a medicinal snuff made from a mixture of tree ash, tobacco, herbs, spices, bark, roots and flowers and is widely used among many different tribes throughout Brazil and Peru. It is blown into both nostrils through a pipe called a Tepi and is said to connect one more firmly within their mind and bodies in addition to the amazon forest itself.

Sananga

Sananga is a traditional eye medicine made from the shredded roots of a shrub called Tabernaemontana Undulata. It has been used for thousands of years by the tribes of the upper Amazon to heal physical and energetic levels. It is said to clear depression, negative thought patterns and psychosomatic ailments.  On a physical level, Sananga cleans and refreshes the eyes and has been used to treat glaucoma, cataracts, astigmatism, conjunctivitis, dry/red eyes, eye infections, sinusitis, and chronic headaches.  Sananga may be offered after your Kambo treatment to support the cleansing process.
